In his article published in The Conversation, Pierre-Antoine Chardel, Professor of Social Sciences and Ethics at Institut Mines-Telecom Business School, analyzes the democratic and civic stakes of the digital orientations in France. He casts light on the impact of digital technology on our private and public lives, and on the way digital technology develops a “culture of horizontality now that we live in networks and have become hyperconnected”. As Pierre-Antoine Chardel explains, keeping digital technologies under control is becoming a democratic issue and a societal expectation; “the ambition to combine ethical responsibility and technological innovation is now clearly recognized as socially important”.
