DÉVELOPPEMENT DURABLE
SDG 7: AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
IMT roadmap and energy sobriety
The IMT’s Ecological Transition Roadmap, adopted by the Board of Directors on June 24, 2021, includes the implementation of a policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as part of Goal 5, “To work towards eco-friendly campuses in all schools”.
Among other things, it will systematically include performance criteria in the specifications for the maintenance and renovation of buildings occupied by the IMT schools in order to comply with the Decree No. 2019-771 of July 23, 2019, concerning the required actions to reduce energy consumption in buildings intended for tertiary use.
Actions taken: energy management and building insulation
Electricity, lighting and computing
- LED lighting of all outdoor and indoor spaces where technically possible.
- Use of motion detectors.
- Programming of outdoor lighting.
- Cooling of the former server room by means of a free-cooling system to optimize energy consumption, use environmentally friendly refrigerants and carry out continuous monitoring by means of a set of sensors.

Building heating and insulation
- Renovation of the heating and ventilation installation and re-insulation of several buildings in 2021, in order to improve user comfort and energy performance.
- Heating instructions: 19°C during the day, 17°C on weekends.
- Campaign for insulating heating pipes.
- Reduction of the flow temperature in the substation.
- Electric auxiliary heaters are prohibited, except in special cases.
- In the case of new constructions, low-energy buildings are also privileged, as was the case for the construction of the Etoile building. New buildings constructed before January 1, 2022 had to meet the standards of the RT2012 thermal regulation and thus respect a certain level of energy performance. https://www.ecologie.gouv.fr/reglementation-thermique-rt2012

- In response to France Relance’s call for projects on energy efficiency, the School was able to complete two energy renovation projects in 2021:
Energy renovation of the gymnasium
Replacement of interior wood siding, insulation of the main room, installation of a thermodynamic hot water tank powered by a heat pump and use of LED lighting.
Maisel residence halls on campus
Replacement of several windows to improve energy comfort and installation of double glazing in order to reduce energy consumption for heating and conditioning.
