On May 16, 2019, Institut Mines-Telecom Business School and Telecom SudParis came together on the Evry campus to celebrate their 40th anniversary. It was back in 1979 that Minitel was first established, which was created by Institut National des Télécommunications (INT) to train France Télécom executives and accelerate the development of telecommunications throughout France.
40 years of history
Festivities got underway with an event to share and reminisce at Café Souvenirs, where everyone was invited to share their anecdotes and memories going back… 40 years, for the more mature among us! This opportunity to take a walk down memory lane was also a chance to trace the school’s 40-year history with great emotion and plenty of smiles. From the first graduates in 1982 to the creation of Institut Mines-Telecom in 2012, all via the birth of the school’s business incubator in 2000 and the business school’s change of name in 2018 as it became IMT-BS.
The 2019 IMT OPEN final
While our guests recalled their fond memories of their time with us, the two 2019 IMT OPEN finalists battled it out on the courts as part of the 16th installment of our tennis tournament that, for the first time, was officially recognized by France’s Circuit National des Grands Tournois (CNGT). The final resulted in a victory for France’s Yannick Jankovits (Hyèrois Tennis Club), who is seeded 35, winning 6/3 3/6 6/1, against Victor Ouvrard (seeded 88 in France from Loges Tennis Club).
Fun at the fair!
A 3-meter foosball table, a bouncy castle, dartboard, coconut smashing and fishing game then took center stage in the main courtyard to continue the festivities on this special anniversary day of ‘great joy and good humor’! Cotton candy and popcorn went down well with even the most refined palates…
An exceptional evening to round off the day
After a few words from Denis Guibard, IMT-BS Director, and Christophe Digne, TSP Director, the arts festival got into full swing, honoring the many talents of our various student associations. Staff and students alike joined forces in an exceptional flash mob, the result of some excellent teamwork! And because no birthday celebration would be complete without a cake, a magnificent tiered centerpiece was unveiled as students, graduates, staff and invited guests gathered together to celebrate the past 40 years of the schools late into the evening.
