The Career Center of Institut Mines-Telecom Business School provides daily support to its students in their professional development and in their long-term integration into the business world. For several years, it has been organizing ComColors® workshops for IMT-BS students. The aim is to teach these students how to better know themselves in order to better communicate with their future colleagues.
ComColors®: learn to better know yourself in order to better communicate

The ComColors® model is a self-knowledge tool based on six personality types, all represented by a color (green, orange, yellow, red, blue and purple). “Originally, ComColors® was a specific training program designed for companies and more particularly for managers. We have developed a one-day module specifically for students,” explains Franck Jullien, designer of the ComColors® model. This training program teaches them to better know themselves, but also to better know others in order to improve their teamwork relationships”.
During a one-day session, the IMT-BS students learn to know themselves better in three stages: first, they fill out a questionnaire to define their personality, then fine-tune their self-perception through quizzes and games in small groups, before debriefing at the end of the day. “Very often, there is a gap between the perception of ourselves and the perception that others have of us,” says Franck Jullien. At the end of the day, each student knows his/her primary color (i.e. the personality that will define him/her throughout his/her life) but also his/her secondary color, which represents his/her current motivation and which, on the contrary, can vary throughout life. “I was surprised to see my secondary color change during the lockdown,” says Lilian Doublet, a student in the Bachelor Management & Digital Business program at IMT-BS, after participating in a ComColors® workshop in January 2021.
A fun and interactive one-day training session
Given the current health crisis, the ComColors® workshops are held exclusively in remote mode. This is why the instructors try to make this training day an interactive moment of exchange by using quizzes and small group games. During the day, each student works with Comcolors®, a fun application that offers a comprehensive presentation of the six personality types and allows them to define their personality profile, but also to identify the personality type of their classmates, for example.
The ComColors® application, a tool to accelerate company integration
After the training session, students are given unlimited access to the ComColors® application. They can find their profile and the details of their personality and obtain information and daily advice to improve their professional relationships or to manage teams: what role to assume in a team? What are my reactions when faced with a stressful situation? What is my ideal work environment?, etc. “This tool will help speed up their integration into the company and will follow them throughout their career,” concludes Franck Jullien.
I found this workshop very enriching, I learned to know myself better particularly by analyzing my reactions in stressful situations. I will definitely use the ComColors application later on in my professional life, because this tool teaches us how to work efficiently in a group and how to react to a conflict or an unexpected situation.
